5つの産地The five regions
産地は、キャンベルタウン、ハイランド、アイラ、ローランド、スペイサイドの5つです。それぞれ、違った角度からスコッチを楽しめます。
There are five Scotch whisky regions: Campbeltown, Highland, Islay, Lowland and Speyside. Each offers a different perspective on Scotch whisky.

法律上の区分Legal status
スコットランドの蒸溜所は、ハイランド、ローランド、スペイサイドの「地域」と、キャンベルタウン、アイラ島の「地区」に分けて、名前が保護されています。保護された名前をラベルや広告に使えるのは、その地域や地区で蒸留されたスコッチウイスキーだけです。
Scottish distilleries are protected by name under three “regions” (Highland, Lowland and Speyside) and two “localities” (Campbeltown and Islay). A protected name may be used on a label or in advertising only for Scotch whisky distilled in that region or locality.
スペイサイドには、スコッチ全体の半数近い蒸溜所が集まるとされ、ウイスキーのメッカと呼ばれます。
Speyside is said to hold nearly half of all Scotch distilleries and is called the mecca of whisky.

For a heavily peated, smoky flavor: Islay - 果実やはちみつのような風味を探すなら、スペイサイド
For fruit and honey flavors: Speyside - 塩気のある海沿いの風味を探すなら、ハイランド(島を含む)
For a salty, coastal flavor: Highland (including the islands) - 塩気、スモーク、バニラ、トフィーの混ざった力強さを探すなら、キャンベルタウン
For robust notes of salt, smoke, vanilla and toffee: Campbeltown - 多様な新しい蒸溜所を探すなら、ローランド
For a diversity of new distilleries: Lowland
